The Creatures of Tiddleton Hollow - Coming Soon!

A Story About Feelings, Choices, and the Little Things That Matter

The Creatures of Tiddleton Hollow is a gentle, imaginative children’s story about the small, unseen creatures that grow wherever feelings live.

In a cozy bedroom in the quiet town of Tiddleton Hollow, two children learn that their everyday choices, how they speak, how they listen, how they treat one another, shape the world around them in ways they never expected. Each giggle, grumble, truth, or tidy-up invites a different kind of creature to appear.

Some creatures tangle thoughts and stir up messes.

Others glow with kindness and help set things right.

As Papa tells the children about these creatures, the story becomes something more than a bedtime tale. It becomes a way of understanding emotions, responsibility, and grace, without lectures, fear, or shame.

This is a book about learning that feelings aren’t bad, mistakes aren’t final, and even small choices can make a room, and a heart, feel safe again.

What the Story Teaches (Without Preaching):

At its core, The Creatures of Tiddleton Hollow helps children explore:

  • Emotional awareness
  • Accountability without punishment
  • The idea that choices have consequences — but also second chances
  • How kindness, honesty, and care can quiet the noise inside

All of this unfolds through story and imagination, not instruction.

Children don’t need to be told what to feel; they need language and imagery that helps them recognize what’s already there.

Why This Book Was Written:

The Creatures of Tiddleton Hollow was written from the understanding that children often carry big feelings long before they have words for them.

Many stories rush children toward behavior without pausing to honor what lies underneath. This story moves more slowly. It gives feelings a shape. It gives mistakes a softness. It allows growth to take its time.

The book is designed to open space for conversation, the kind that happens naturally at bedtime, when the lights are low and the day has finally grown quiet. It invites children and grown-ups alike to talk about what they felt, what they noticed, and what might help the creatures rest.

Above all, this story was created to be read aloud and to be a place where children feel safe inside the story itself.

A Few Lines From the Story:

“There are creatures who feel what they see you do.
They make things better — or worse.”

“Every feeling sends a flutter-spark, and that’s how new creatures are born.”

“Some creatures won’t lie down until the room feels honest again.”

“Even the noisy ones get tired — when kindness shows up.”

Who This Book Is For:

  • Children ages 4–10
  • Parents and caregivers who value emotional literacy
  • Educators looking for story-based conversation starters
  • Anyone who believes gentleness is a strength

It’s especially well-suited for bedtime reading, classroom discussions, and moments when big feelings need a safe landing place.

Early Reviews

"I really enjoyed The Creatures of Tiddleton Hollow and its imaginative concept. My kids were immediately drawn to the colorful illustrations, which brought the story and creatures to life and kept them engaged from page to page. The rhyming style flowed well and made the story enjoyable to read aloud, and I appreciated that it felt like a complete story from beginning to end.  While my younger children mostly focused on the pictures, I found that the language and emotional ideas really shine for slightly older kids.

Children with some early school experience will better understand how the creatures connect to feelings and behaviors. As a read-aloud, it works for younger listeners, but I think it’s especially well-suited for kids who are beginning to recognize and talk about their emotions.

Overall, it’s a thoughtful, creative book that I would recommend for children ages 5–10, especially for families who enjoy imaginative stories with heart." - Kyla B.

“We really enjoyed The Creatures of Tiddleton Hollow. It kept my 4-year-old daughter’s attention from start to finish, which isn’t always easy to do. The story has a calm, comforting feel, and the creative creatures made it fun and engaging to read together. The illustrations bring the characters to life and really pulled her right in. We’re already looking forward to the next book!” - Derek L.

"Thank you for letting us be advanced readers of The Creatures of Tiddleton Hollow. Although my granddaughter is younger than the intended audience, she was fully engaged from start to finish. The story flows beautifully and was very effective at holding her attention during read-aloud time. The illustrations are lovely and bring the world and creatures to life.

What stood out most to me is the heart of the story, the idea that no feelings are bad feelings. That message is handled with care and imagination, making the book both meaningful and comforting. While a few illustrations may feel intense for very young readers, the overall experience was positive and engaging.

I would absolutely purchase this book and look forward to buying future stories in the series."  - Marie S.H.

“My two sons, ages 8 and 10, loved the book. It proved to be a wonderful tool for shifting their perspective rather than just a bedtime story.

At first, my 8-year-old found some of the creatures under the bed a bit scary in the earlier pages. However, his concerns completely transformed as we continued reading.

The book beautifully illustrates a powerful lesson: the creatures are what you make of them. By the end, my youngest realized that positive energy and responsible behavior transform the creatures into happy ones.

This is a must-read that empowers children to take control of their imagination in the best way possible.” - Mike M.

A Note to Grown-Ups

Children already know when something inside them feels tangled.

This book doesn’t tell them they’re wrong.

It reminds them they’re not alone.
